Broadband & Telecoms

Business needs the fastest, most reliable internet connection. They also need a telephone system trusted to be robust and provide the functionality needed.

Hosted Telephony

If you need a normal internet connection or the fastest leased-line, we can help. If you are worried about the 2025 switch from copper to fibre broadband, when you will no longer be using the old type of phone, now is the perfect time to plan the switch to a hosted VoIP phone system that will mean you don't need to change again.

What is a hosted VoIP phone system?

It is how telephone systems are delivered over the internet. Instead of either the old system of a copper line to the premises and a 'PBX' box in the corner, acting like the local exchange for your business, all this is hosted in the cloud.

Why would we want a hosted VoIP system?

The benefits are that:

  • your phones work from anywhere with an internet connection

  • you can use apps on a mobile device or computer - no need for handsets, if you don't want them

  • you don't lose all the phones if the line to your building is out of action

  • it will scale with your business

  • if there is a pandemic, you can work from anywhere without needing to make any changes

If you are thinking of switching to a hosted VoIP system, or looking for a better one, get in touch and we can discuss what the options are.

Broadband
What are the main types of Broadband?

SOGEA

  • This is broadband without a 'landline'. It doesn't come with a landline phone system - just broadband. It is better value and it is the perfect complement to a hosted phone system.

  • It has speeds similar to FTTC connections as it uses the same technology. i.e. up to nearly 80Mbps download and nearly 18Mbps upload.

FTTP (Fibre to the Premises)

  • Super quick - you get what you pay for. Speeds can be over 1000Mbps.

FTTC (Fibre to the Cabinet)

  • This is the traditional 'fibre' broadband connection. The last bit, from cabinet to premises, is still copper and gets slower the further away you are from the cabinet.

  • You get a telephone line too, which you likely won't need but still pay for.

  • Speed is up to nearly 80Mbps download and up to nearly 18Mbps upload.

ADSL

  • The slowest of the offerings

  • Speeds of up to 8Mbps download and up to nearly 1.5Mbps upload.

  • It is time to move on unless there is really no choice!
